The company was founded in 2015 to protect and raise awareness towards cultural heritage and build capacity within communities living in the surroundings of archaeological sites. Since its foundation, Sela focused on training and raising awareness. The company has implemented several training projects in which local community members are trained on the job within national and international projects in Jordan. Sela managed local staff and built local capacity in each site with the aim of creating a workforce to sustain each project in the years to come. This approach is tailored to the needs of the projects and the sites. As a local company, Sela offers contracts with benefits both to its trainers and trainees.
In 2017, Sela opened a public library.
Beginning in summer 2017, Sela hosts students from national and international universities for their summer internship semester. Sela offers to university students the opportunity to serve in different capacities on national and international projects.
