The on-the-job training that Sela proposes is a once –in-a-lifetime experience to have a full immersion in the culture and the lifestyle of Jordanians and to contribute to the long-term well being of the host community by working side by side with community members as you learn about the history of Jordan, its culture and how to best preserve it. Each session of the proposed on-the-job training program lasts four weeks and includes both theoretical and hands-on classes on three major topics:

Documentation: participants will be trained in how to document heritage sites and implemented work, including the basics of photography, on-site hand drawings and CAD drawings.

Conservation: participants will be instructed on best conservation practices and will have the opportunity to learn hand-on cleaning operations, emergency conservation, mortar repairs.

Landscape Rehabilitation: participants will collaborate with local stakeholders and the host community in designing, planning and implement initiatives and projects to raise awareness towards the preservation of heritage.

Archaeological Excavation (if available): participants will participate in archaeological digs under the scientific supervision of Jordanian and/or international institutions.

Teaching modules will include hands-on training on site, teaching material and written assignment, weekend study trips to major Jordanian sites, field research and brain storming sessions, lectures twice a week.
